Archive old items?

Is it possible to archive old for-sale items to reduce the number of items to be sorted through in the views? Or, if not, is it OK to delete items no longer available for sale? We understand this will mean the old orders won't be able to be opened, but if we only delete things 2 years or older we think we would be happy enough with this.
